Organizing the Top of the Fridge: Before and After Pics!

Inspired by all of the great examples of side-by-side refrigerator organization, I decided that it was time to get my own fridge back in shape. I did the big clean out a few days before I went grocery shopping. I didn’t want to have too much stuff on hand that I’d have to put away again, but I also didn’t want the fridge to be so empty that my re-organize wouldn’t be based on an unrealistically small amount of food.
Because I have preschoolers at home with me, I decided to break up this project into smaller parts. So, instead of cleaning the whole fridge at once, I just did the top section of our fridge. It needed it the most! The whole project took me about 30 minutes to complete during nap time.
Here’s a picture of my fridge before the clean out:

First, I took everything out of the upper part of the fridge and washed the removable shelves. I used a solution of vinegar and water to clean the surfaces that couldn’t be removed from the fridge.

I used some old lazy susans that we had from our previous home to make our drinks and condiments easier to see. I also used a clear shoebox to store all of our bread products together. My goals was to not spend money on new organizers, and use what we already had on hand.
It was really nice to see everything we had on hand before going grocery shopping. I stored leftovers and half-used sippy cups on the top level of one of our lazy susans so they would be easy to see.

That’s it! How do you organize your side-by-side fridge?
