Do you save your leftovers on a regular basis? Are you concerned about using plastics to store food? Are you just looking to upgrade your current food storage containers?
For a few years now we’ve been using glass storage containers for our leftovers. I loved the flexibility of using plastic containers because I knew I could just throw them away if they got gross. But now that we have children, I’ve been completely freaked out by everyone saying that plastic is bad. So we use Pyrex containers most of the time for food we’re going to put in the refrigerator..
At first I thought using glass containers would be a pain, but they’ve actually made a few things easier.
Ways Using Glass Food Storage Containers Has Simplified Our Kitchen
- I use the glass storage containers for re-heating in the microwave. I used to worry about melting our warping our plastic containers, so I’d heat up food on a plate in the microwave, which created more dishes to wash. Now, I just throw the glass container straight into the microwave with a coffee filter or paper towel over it and call it a day.
- It’s easier to store glass storage containers. That’s a very strange-sounding sentence. But, glass containers are much easier to stack in a cabinet. They’re uniform in size, and they’re not flopping all over the place.
- It’s easier to put glass storage containers in the dishwasher. Again, they’re not flimsy and flopping all over the place, so they’re much easier to manage.
What kind of storage containers do you use?
